Blood Orange Margaritas

For the Orange Honey Syrup

1 blood orange

1 cup honey

1/2 cup water

For the Margaritas

8 ounces blood orange juice ( about 34 oranges )

4 ounces lime juice ( about 3 limes )

8 ounces tequila

4 ounces orange honey syrup

Sea salt


  1. Peel the blood orange and cut the flesh into 8 pieces.
  2. Place the peel, orange, honey and water in a small saucepan.
  3. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and let sit for 3 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture into a glass jar or container to cool.
  6. Reserve the orange peels and use as a garnish if desired.
  7. Juice the blood oranges and the limes.
  8. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  9. Add 2 ounces blood orange juice, 1 ounce lime juice, 2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce orange honey syrup and a pinch of salt and shake well.
  10. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice.
