Dicing an onion

Cut off the tip of the onion opposite the root. Place the onion cut side down and cut the onion in half. Peel the skin from the halves. Place an onion half flat side down. Place the palm of your hand on top of the onion. Hold the blade of your knife parallel to the cutting board and make horizontal cuts stopping right before the root end. With the tip of the knife facing the root end, make vertical slices across the onion. Turn the onion 90 degrees and make vertical crosswise slices creating the diced onion.
